
The Aberdeen-based Oil & Gas UK trade association has appointed four new members to its board:
- Cory Loegering (region vice-president and managing director for Apache North Sea)
- Robin Allan, Premier Oil’s director, North Sea and Exploration, and
- Bill Dunnett, managing director of Repsol Sinopec Resources UK have all joined the board as representatives of the operator community, while
- Peter Wilson (vice-president, operations, Rowan Companies) has been appointed to contribute to the representation of contractors and supply chain companies on the board.
Robin Allan commented: “The lower oil price has delivered a wake-up call to our industry, confirming our need to work collaboratively to ensure the UK maintains its position as a global centre of excellence for the oil and gas industry.
“To continue exploration and development of our nation’s oil and gas, we need our Government to provide tangible incentives to help British companies. “
Bringing his knowledge of well operations in the UK, US, Brazil and Europe to his role, Peter Wilson said: “During these challenging times, it is essential that we work together to ensure the sustainability of the North Sea as a viable hydrocarbon producing basin.
“The board provides the ideal arena for us to collectively help steer the industry towards improved collaboration, stimulate increased well activity and build a brighter long-term future for the oil & gas business in the UK.”
Swire Oilfield Services appoints new chief executive
Swire Oilfield Services has appointed John Rae-Smith as chief executive following the recent retiral of Tor Helgeland after 22 years with the company, which specialises in suplmying cargo carrying units to the offshore energy industry.
Rae-Smith has held a number of roles in Swire over the past 30 years, gaining significant experience in the offshore energy industry as Managing Director of Swire Pacific Offshore and, most recently, as Director of Swire Pacific Ltd and Executive Director of the Trading & Industrial Division.
Based in Aberdeen, Rae-Smith will join the company’s management committee alongside Roy Shearer, Chief Financial Officer, and Wayne Manning, Chief Business Development Officer.

Tendeka – an upstream oil and gas services provider – has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Peter Soroka to the role of advanced completions commercialisation manager in the company’s newly formed enhanced production and client services group.
Soroka brings more than 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry to Tendeka, having joined from OMV UK where his last post was as head of increased oil recovery/enhanced oil recovery technology.
Ardyne – the specialist plug and abandon provider – has appointed industry-heavyweight Jochem Scherpenisse as chief operating officer at its Aberdeen head office.
With nearly 20 years oil and gas experience at Baker Hughes, he will be responsible for maintaining operational oversight of the business and working as part of the senior management team on a variety of elements, including technology and business development.
