POWERful Women have secured more than 15 pledges from industry leaders in the energy sector to improve gender diversity.
Both Cuadrilla and I-Gas are among those which have agreed to increase the percentage of women in senior management.
The announcement was made as POWERful Women launched POWERful Tools at a House of Lords event – where keynote speakers included junior UK Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom and Professor Averil MacDonald, Chairman of the UK onshore oil and gas operators’ association, UKOOG.
POWERful Tools is a toolkit for companies to help them tackle gender diversity, as well as providing support for individual women in developing their careers.
POWERful Women’s ambition is to secure 40% of energy company middle management positions for women by 2030 and 30% of executive energy company board members to be female by 2030.
Earlier this year, the organisation launched POWERful Connections, a mentoring scheme for senior women in energy who aim to reach board level within the next five years.
Stephen Bowler, Chief Executive, I-Gas plc added: “I-Gas Energy commits to the development of our female workers through initiatives such as internships, apprenticeships, mentoring, continued professional development and leadership masterclasses and aspires to women representing 40% of senior management by 2025.”
And a spokeswoman for Cuadrilla, said:” Cuadrilla pledges that at least 40% of our middle management will be female by 2025 and that we will support, through our community donations programme, initiatives which encourage more young women to pursue STEM subjects.”
