SmartestEnergy appoints high-flyer Hamilton as new Finance Vice-President

Smartest EnergyEdwin Hamilton – the high-flying former Director of Business Development at British Energy plc who bought the Eggborough coal-fired power station for the nuclear generator – has landed a new top job.

He has been appointed as Vice President, Finance, at SmartestEnergy, the UK’s leading purchaser and supplier of independently generated energy.

Hamilton joins SmartestEnergy from Maritime Asset Security and Training, one of the world’s largest privately owned maritime security and technology providers servicing major energy companies, where he was chief financial officer.

Having recently returned to the UK from overseas, Chartered Accountant Edwin brings over 20 years’ experience at a senior management level to his new position, including previous roles in the energy industry at Electricity Direct and British Energy Plc.

At SmartestEnergy, he will be responsible for leading the Finance Team to support the continued growth of the company.

The Finance Team has a critical role to play in ensuring the company’s ongoing success, particularly considering the unique business model we operate. My focus will be on continuing to develop the robust approach required to support this growth.”
