SNP MP for Aberdeen South Stephen Flynn has called for the UK government to outline details of their pledge to provide additional support for the oil and gas industry in the north east of Scotland over the next five years.
The Conservative Party manifesto vowed to help transform the sector but did not offer details of its plans.
In a 9 January press release, Flynn called for at least £1bn of revenue to help create local jobs and investment as the industry transitions to net zero emissions. He said: “£1 billion is just a fraction of the sector’s projected revenues over the next five years but this ring-fenced investment would deliver real benefits to our communities and environment.”
