On 24 July, Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) revealed major plans to support a low carbon Scotland and urged businesses local authorities and public bodies to invest in green technology. SPEN illuminated Scottish landmarks in a green light as a call to action.
The plans follow the Scottish Government revealing the target to cut greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2045 and new UK Government legislation to achieve carbon neutral status by 2050.
The announcement also coincides with SPEN hosting an awards event at Edinburgh’s Dynamic Earth to present £10mn funding to innovative projects selected for investment through our Green Economy Fund. 21 projects, including e-bike and e-bus schemes, will benefit from the funding.
