The two Big Six energy providers who want to merge their retail gas and electricity supply business to become one of the ‘Big Five’ have appointed a new financial-officer designate to the as-yet un-merged chrysalis company.
Pearth-based utility SSE and Innogy SE have appointed Gordon Boyd to the new ‘independent’ British energy supply company.
This follows the recent appointment of Katie Bickerstaffe as chief-executive designate.
Boyd first joined the energy sector in 1989 and later held a variety of finance management jobs at British Energy and EDF Energy, later overseeing the initial public offerings of both Drax and Infinis.
The UK competition authority is currently conducting an investigation into the proposed merger on grounds that it will distort the market and is anti-competitive.
