
The two Big Six gas and electricity providers which want to merge their retail energy supply business have appointed a chief-executive designate.
The two SSE and Innogy have announced that Katie Bickerstaffe, executive director of Dixons Carphone will take up her new role in Autumn 2018 – assuming the regulator approves the merger.
But Bickerstaffe will stand down from her post as a non-executive director at Pearth-based utility SSE at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, SSE has hired ubiquitous utility boss Tony Cocker as a new non-executive director.
With 20 years experience, his roles included chief executive and chairman of E.ON Energy Trading in Dusseldorf) and managing director of the energy wholesale and trading divisions of E.ON UK.
He is also a non-executive director and chairman of Infinis Energy Management Limited.
