Announced on 31 January, Scotland’s newest onshore wind farm will be built subsidy free, following SSE Renewables confirmation that an 11 turbine extension to the existing 70MW, 35-turbine Gordonbush wind farm is set to be developed.
Located 12km north west of Brora in the Scottish Highlands, the approval follows the decision in November 2019 by Scottish Ministers to grant revised consent for the 11-turbine extension.
The onshore wind farm will be built on a merchant basis, where the installed capacity of the onshore extension will be 47MW.
Construction will commence in March and is one of few onshore projects to get the green light in recent years in GB.
