SSE Renewables welcomes decision to repower Kintyre wind farm

SSE Renewables has voiced its support for the decision made by Scottish Ministers on 20 December to grant consent enabling the repowering of Tangy wind farm on the Kintyre peninsula.

The repowering will see the existing 22-turbine site reduced to 16 more powerful turbines, increasing the installed capacity from 18.7MW to up to 80MW.

SSE Renewables said it will “consider the options for a route to market for the project ahead of taking a final investment decision.”
