Perth-based utility SSE has created a dedicated new railway electrification business division under managing director Raj Sinha, a former train operations chief.
SSE Enterprise Rail has been formed with the primary purpose of powering Britain’s railways and signals the company’s increasing focus in the rail sector, building on experience gained in rail over the last 15 years.
Within that time the company has serviced a wide variety of rail industry clients via a national network of depots.
As part of SSE Enterprise, the new rail division has the funding, the asset management understanding and a skilled workforce of more than 3,000 people to draw upon to support the rail industry in the delivery of electrification and power utilisation projects.
SSE Enterprise Rail clients include Network Rail, East Midlands Trains, First Great Western and South West Trains.
