An industry professional with over 20 years’ experience in the subsea pipelines business has been appointed to Oil & Gas UK’s board.
Phil Simons, Subsea-7 Vice-President, North Sea, will sit alongside leading industry representatives responsible for setting the association’s policy.
Simons began his career in 1992 as an engineer for pipeline installation contactors and operators, European Marine Contactors, where he later became a senior project manager. In 2004 he joined Subsea 7 in Aberdeen as a senior project manager, progressing through the business to his present appointment in 2016.
Meanwhile, Richard Turner has been promoted from chief operating officer to chief executive at Edinburgh-registered JDR Cables following its take-over by Polish rival TF Kable Group.
Monika Cupiał-Zgryzek, Chief Executive, TF Kable, said: “Acquiring JDR is an important step in building sustainable competitive advantage.
“It increases our production capacity and will allow us to further develop and leverage JDR’s cable systems and umbilicals. It builds a greater presence in particular global markets, such as offshore wind.”
