Total announces significant North Sea discovery

Total has announced that it has made a “significant” new discovery in the North Sea of recoverable resources estimated to be 250mn boe.

Announced on 29 January, the discovery is located on the Glengorm prospect located in the Central Graben. Total said that further drilling and testing will be carried out to appraise resources and the productivity of the reservoir.

This announcement follows Total’s discovery on the Glendronach prospect of recoverable gas, estimated at about 1trn cubic feet in September 2018.

Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice President Exploration at Total, said: “Our strong position in the region will enable us to leverage existing infrastructures nearby and optimise the development of this discovery. Glengorm is an achievement that demonstrates our capacity to create value in a mature environment thanks to our in-depth understanding of the basin.”
