Bob Keiller – chief executive of the Wood Group – has been appointed as new chairman of Scottish Enterprise, the national jobs and investment agency.
He takes up his new role in Jan 2016 and succeeds Crawford Gillies. The appointment is part-time and pays more than £500 a day for a time commitment of 1½ days per week – giving a public sector pay cheque of more than £35,000 a year.
Keiller was previously chairman of the Offshore Contractors Association, the Helicopter Issues Task Group and joint chairman of Oil and Gas UK.
John Swinney, Deputy First Minister of Scotland, said: “I am delighted that Bob will be joining the Board of Scottish Enterprise, and I know that Scottish Enterprise will benefit from his extensive experience. I wish him well and look forward to working with him.”
Keiller said: “Scotland needs a vibrant and inclusive economy and Scottish Enterprise has a catalytic part to play in achieving this.”
