New information about the capabilities and capacity of the UK offshore fabrication sector has been published today by Oil and Gas UK in the 2015 UK Offshore Oil and Gas Fabricators Directory.
Terry Savage, Chairman, UK Oil & Gas Fabricators Forum, said: “We believe the directory, with its detailed analysis of the sector’s capabilities available throughout the country, signals that the UK is open for business and demonstrates the ability of the fabrication sector to serve other industries, in addition to our UK oil and gas sector, in years to come.”
Oonagh Werngren, Operations Director, Oil and Gas UK, said: “As the industry tackles serious challenges arising from increasing costs and declining production, along with the fall in oil price, we must take action to ensure that UK companies are competitive.
“Making sure that the capabilities of UK fabricators are well known and understood by potential customers, both in the UK and in the global oil and gas industry, is a key way to support the sector.
“The UK fabrication sector has more than 40 years of experience during which it has accumulated an impressive level of knowledge and expertise, and it is vitally important that we continue to promote these indigenous engineering skills.
“This year’s directory includes details of two additional UK fabrication yards as well as a range of equipment and facilities, such as new cranes and specialist coating workshops, which expand the existing capacity of the sector.”
