Wave Energy Scotland (WES) announced on 5 December that seven projects have received funding totalling nearly £460,000 as part of a £2mn+ Quick Connections System innovation workstream.
The announcement was made by Scotland’s Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands Paul Wheelhouse MSP as he made the opening address at the WES Annual Conference in Edinburgh on 5 December.
The winning companies to have won contracts are Apollo, Blackfish Engineering, Ditrel Industrial S.L., Nova Innovation, Quoceant, Subsea Riser Products and TTI Marine Renewables.
Several technologies have already progressed through feasibility, design and development stages. Two wave energy companies are developing half-scale devices that will be tested off the Orkney coast in 2020.
