WiRES forthcoming events
On 28th March WiRES will host a site visit at Whitelee Windfarm at Eaglesham, West Renfewshire. Launched in 2009, it’s the UK’s largest onshore windfarm with 215 turbines which generate up to 539 megawatts of electricity – enough to power 300,000 homes.
The half day event will consist of a bus tour of the site, a tour of the visitor centre and a Q&A session with a representative from ScottishPower Renewables. There will be lunch and an opportunity to meet other WiRES members.
Please note that places are limited and all will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The event is open to WiRES members only. Not a member yet? Don’t worry you can sign up for free membership here.
On April 3rd there will be a network event and a talk from Catherine Hokin at Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI). Catherine is Co-founder and Director of ecoConnect, with Robert Hokin, and Chair of Women in Cleantech.
Her background is in marketing and has worked with Post Office Counters, Topman and Glenys Kinnock. Women in Cleantech is a specialist network powered by ecoConnect and has its focus is on collaboration, connecting women who work or would like to work with that sector.
The event is free and will run from 6-8 p.m.
