Bob Keiller, Chief Executive of Wood Group, and Patrick Clarke, OBE, director of network operations at UK Power Networks, are the guest speakers as part of AFBE-UK’s charity dinner in Aberdeen next month.
AFBE-UK (Association for BME Engineers) is a registered not-for-profit organisation that promotes engineering as a career choice among young people from under-represented groups, particularly those of black and minority ethnic (BME) origin.
Funds will be raised on the night for Archway, an Aberdeen-based charity which supports children and adults with learning disabilities.
Dr. Ollie Folayan, the Aberdeen-based chairman of AFBE-UK Scotland, said: “The AFBE-UK Scotland end of year gala dinner focuses on the achievements of two prominent engineers who have made their mark in the world of business.”
Dr. Folayan – a senior process engineer consulting at a leading oil and gas major – is also a STEM ambassador, as part of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network (STEMNET), which encourages young people to engage with these subjects.
