Wood Group – the Aberdeen-based oil-to-renewables multi-national energy conglomerate – has recruited a new vice-president of clean energy.
The company has appointed Jan Dell – who will be based in Houston, Tx, USA, to build on Wood Group’s existing renewables technical services, consulting and advisory capabilities.
She will also lead the broadening of services into adjacent sectors, namely water and climate together with the geographic expansion of existing services.
Prior to joining Wood Group, Dell held senior strategy and management positions with AECOM, CH2M Hill and ConocoPhillips, where she led global energy and industrial project developments incorporating sustainable designs. Jan is currently vice chair of the US Federal Advisory Committee for the Sustained National Climate Assessment and was convening lead author of the Energy Supply and Use Chapter of the U.S. National Climate Assessment report, published in April 2014.
Bob MacDonald, Chief Executive of Wood Group’s Specialists Technical Solutions arm, said: “The appointment of Jan provides us with the leadership to drive further growth
“We have provided technical services, consulting and advisory services for renewable energy projects around the world for over 14 years. From our beginnings focused on wave power, we have grown and enhanced our clean energy portfolio, providing solutions to complex technological challenges in onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, hydro and biomass.”
Wood Group already owns ands operates an all-renewables subsidiary – Sgurr Energy – in Glasgow.
As the crude oil price slump developed over the past two years, ‘Sgurr Energy’ has become a more prominent agenda-item on Wood Group Board meetings and some observers consider it only a matter of time before Sgurr Energy is renamed as ‘Wood Group Renewables’.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen-based Hydro Group, a subsea specialist services provider, has appointed William (Bill) Mildon as president of newly-formed Hydro Group Systems Inc. – a wholly owned subsidiary in Pinellas County, Florida.
Along with developing this vision in the US naval, oil and gas and renewable sectors, he is also to set up a manufacturing facility to produce Hydro Group products to the US market.
