Wood Group wins £3m Dounreay nuclear decommissioning deal

Engineering contractors Wood Group has won a £3 million contract as part of a clean-up at the former Dounreay nuclear test site in Caithness.

During the four years contract Wood, as prime contractor, and partners Orano, GDES and Aquila will provide a range of engineering  services including design, engineering validation, environmental cases, environmental restoration, seismic, construction management and commissioning support, as well as software modelling, waste strategy documentation and technical support including provision of specialist staff.

Bob MacDonald, head of Specialist Technical Solutions at Wood Group said: “This contract adds to our growing portfolio of work at Dounreay and helps increase our share of the growing nuclear decommissioning market.”
