
Giant Norwegian offshore oil services provider Aker Solutions is looking to cut up to 300 jobs from its UK subsea sector, it was confirmed last night.
Employees in London and Aberdeen are at risk as the company announced it had started a consultation period on cutting staff numbers in the face of the ‘lower for longer’ crude oil price slump.
David Clark, Aker’s regional head for Europe and Africa, said: “These are tough but necessary measures to help ensure we stay competitive during a challenging time for our industry.”
Aker employs about 15,000 people, of whom about 2,500 are in the UK.
