Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster has congratulated the Aberdeenshire companies which received accolades at the Subsea UK Business Awards 2014 last week. Subsea Expo 2014, Europe’s largest annual subsea exhibition and conference, was held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Thousands of delegates from across the globe gathered to see the latest subsea technology at work and network with industry leaders at the annual event.
The Provost visited the Expo to meet Aberdeenshire companies exhibiting at the event and speak to them about issues affecting the subsea industry in the north-east of Scotland.
Council Leader, Cllr Jim Gifford, and Chair of the Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Peter Argyle, also visited the event.
Business leaders spoke positively to the Provost about developments in Westhill, concreting the area’s position as a global centre of excellence in subsea engineering and she congratulated the businesses which celebrated successes at the Subsea UK Business Awards.
Westhill-based Bibby Offshore was named Company of the Year, in recognition of its continued growth and investment in people.
Subsea specialist ROVOP, also based at Westhill, was awarded The New Enterprise Award, recognising the success of the business in the subsea sector including overall vision and commercial performance.
Aberdeenshire firms Technip, Subsea 7 and SETS were shortlisted finalists for awards on the night.
