Dispute resolution focus at the All-Energy Conference 2014

Scottish Arbitration etc.'The Scottish Arbitration Centre and the Northern Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators have been invited to speak on dispute resolution at the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference. The conference is the UK’s largest renewable energy event taking place in Europe’s energy city, Aberdeen, on 21-22 May 2014.

The All-Energy Exhibition and Conference is a free-to-attend event which will be showcasing the complete range of renewable and sustainable technologies, as well as a world-class multi-stream conference.  In 2013, 606 exhibitors from 17 countries and around 7,500 people from 48 countries attended the event.

Brandon Malone, chairman of the Scottish Arbitration Centre and co-director of the International Centre for Energy Arbitration (ICEA), will speak on behalf of the Centre and CIArb Northern Chapter on the topic of alternative dispute resolution in the renewable energy sector.

He will also discuss the newly established ICEA, a joint project between the Scottish Arbitration Centre and the Centre for Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, and the recently launched consultation with the energy sector on dispute resolution options.  Andrew Mackenzie, Chief Executive of the Scottish Arbitration Centre and Secretary General of ICEA, will also attend the conference.

Mr Malone said:

“I am delighted to be representing the Scottish Arbitration Centre and the Northern Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators at the All Energy conference.  We want to ensure that the energy sector is aware of the dispute resolution options in Scotland.

“ICEA is currently consulting with the sector on options that best suit its requirements to allow us to develop bespoke rules, and this platform will provide an opportunity to engage with key players in the international renewable energy sector.

“The aim is to develop Scotland into an international centre for energy arbitration and ensure that the energy industry has appropriate dispute resolution for its needs.”
