EU Energy Director to deliver keynote speech at Ocean Energy Europe conference, Paris 1 Oct

Andras Siegler, Director of Energy at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation, will provide the opening keynote address at Ocean Energy Europe 2014, on 1 October.

His keynote speech is expected to address the EU’s changing energy landscape, the policy response coming from the European Commission and Member States, and the potential impacts of these issues on funding for renewable ocean energy in the years to come.

Siegler and his Directorate have been an important driver of support for the ocean energy sector in recent years, with repsonsibility for key research funding programmes such as FP7 and Horizon 2020. Launched earlier this year, Horizon 2020 is the world’s biggest research funding programme, with a dedicated €5.4bn pool for funding for energy research over the next 7 years.Ocean Energy EuropeScotland is to feature prominently at the Ocean Energy Europe 2014 conference in Paris, 1-2 October
