The finalists for the first OPITO Skills Awards have been announced ahead of next week’s National Oil & Gas Skills Week.
The Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation’s Skills Awards, aims to recognise employers who have engaged with UK educational establishments for the benefit of future generations; and career transitioners who have made a valuable contribution to their workplace or business.
The finalists for the Top Employer for Engagement in UK Education award are:
- Advanced Industrial Solutions,
- TOTAL E&P UK
- Quick Hydraulics.
Individuals shortlisted for Top Military Career Transitioner award are: Duncan Harwood of ADIL; Peter Hall of Paradigm Flow Services; and Magnus Jeffrey of LR Senergy.
The Awards will also see the presentation of the OPITO Modern Apprentice of the Year accolade. Nominations for this award have been made by the candidate’s respective colleges.
Meanwhile, the National Oil & Gas Skills Week is set to explore the skills and career pathways within the oil and gas industry across the UK. Among a number of workshops and career sessions, interactive challenges are due to take place in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Norwich and Great Yarmouth from November 11-14.

The winners will be announced on November 13 in Aberdeen.
