A specialist north-east oil and gas industry fire safety protection company has won a top business award.

Blaze Manufacturing Solutions – which is based in Laurencekirk and which has offices in Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, a regional project office in Gt Yarmouth and southern sales office in Milton Keynes – has won the Business Success Over Three Years accolade in this year’s Grampian Awards for Business Excellence.

The competition, which is organised by Enterprise North East Trust aims to encourage enterprise by rewarding entrepreneurial companies and individuals that are capable of leading the future prosperity of Grampian.

A family-owned business which was launched in 2006 by Howard and Ann Johnson, Blaze has rapidly established itself as a leading provider of fire safety protection and loss prevention solutions. The company started with just two people and today employs 30-full time members of staff and 100 contractors.

Blaze works with major oil and gas operators to design and supply fire protection systems and loss prevention services, and also manage new build contracts.

The specialist firm has continued to secure contracts with major names in the industry and has already won contracts worth a combined value of £15million this year.

Blaze Managing Director Howard Johnson said: “Blaze had a strong start in 2014 and winning this award recognizes the hard work and dedication of all our of staff in helping to grow the company, putting Blaze in a strong position for continued success throughout the year.”
