Green Energy International announces 700MW solar project development pipeline

On 8 July, Green Energy International (GEI) announced a development pipeline of over 700MW of solar projects extending to 2024. The aim is to submit two sites per month into planning over the next year.

GEI announced that a 36.6MW subsidy-free solar farm in Aberdeenshire is already in its planning phase, with construction to begin in spring 2020. This project adds to a second project in its planning phase, as well as a third site to be submitted at the end of August. Combined, these sites total 80MW, and GEI is hoping to have a second portfolio totaling 100MW submitted by the end of 2019.

CEO of GEI Arthur Bell told Solar Power Portal: “There is a real buzz of solar activity in the UK and Scotland is a fantastic location with good irradiation, flat well screened land and most importantly the emphatic support for renewable energy.”
