The Scottish government announced on 25 September that it is on the verge of introducing legislation that will commit Scotland to becoming a net zero society by 2045 – five years before the rest of the UK. The Climate Change Bill was voted on by the Scottish Parliament later in the day.
The Scottish Government also said it would adopt an ambitious new target to reduce emissions by 75% by 2030.
