Oil and gas asset integrity and corrosion management is the subject of a specialist presentation by an Edinburgh-based expert at next week’s Offshore Europe event.
Drawing upon more than seven years’ industry experience, LUX Assure product line manager, Melanie Reid, is due to deliver a presentation entitled ‘Deepwater Chemical Injection – How Do You Know Your Corrosion Inhibitor Can Cope?’
Reid said: “As the energy industry moves into more hostile HPHT environments, it is important to understand the challenges that these surroundings present and the effect the harsh conditions have on assets, and most importantly, how this can be overcome to ensure the integrity of infrastructure and safe operations.
“A key theme of this year’s Offshore Europe will be championing collaboration and raising awareness that it could be the key to ensuring the industry’s sustainability and long-term growth.
“The high number of delegates which the exhibition attracts will provide the ideal opportunity for us to share best practice and showcase our technology that supports corrosion management and offers significant cost savings for our clients.”
The presentation aims to discuss the challenges deepwater production poses to the industry, and the need for production chemicals with excellent thermal stability, reliable viscosity and high levels of cleanliness to cope with high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) environments. The functionality of corrosion inhibitors, as well as the methodology with which to measure this, is also to be discussed.
LUX Assure provides two key products to monitor and manage difficult-to-detect chemicals in hydrocarbons, condensates and water, specifically the thermodynamic hydrate inhibitors and corrosion inhibitors used to protect oilfield assets, on and offshore.
