Major investment transforming First Integrated Solutions

The last six months have seen major changes and significant investment at an Aberdeen-based oil and gas service company.

In February, First Integrated Solutions was created following the acquisition by First Time Group of Global Integrated Services.  Under the new ownership over £7m has been invested in the business, which specialises in the supply, inspection and maintenance of safety critical services.

Within the state-of-the-art rigging workshops it now has the largest wire rope press of its type in Europe, which has a capacity to manufacture wire ropes up to 128 mm in diameter.

The business, which comprises five divisions – lifting and inspection, plant and tooling, lifeboats and marine, winches and deck machinery, and crane maintenance and management – opened a new base in Great Yarmouth in April.

The move has created additional jobs and allows us to better serve oil and gas firms operating in the Southern North Sea, as well as wind energy businesses located in the area.

To support growing customer demand, £4.5m has been spent expanding the firm’s fleet of rental equipment.  Twelve new-build winches and hydraulic power units have been purchased at a cost of £3.5m, while almost £1m has been invested in additional plant and tooling rental equipment.

This has grown the rental fleet to include over 2,000 different equipment types across a fleet of more than 60,000 items.

“This year has been one of major change for the business.  With new ownership, management changes, significant levels of investment, our move to new premises in Aberdeen and opening a site in Great Yarmouth, we are a different business, one that is more robust and well-rounded.  We will be looking to build on this going forward.

“Our aim is to grow in a sustainable way.  Continued investment and expansion into new markets are important elements of this.

“In addition to opening our Great Yarmouth base we have recently signed agency agreements in Holland and Norway, meaning we have an improved presence in all sectors of the North Sea.”

To showcase the changes and investments that been made in the business over the last six months First Integrated Solutions held a client open day.  Visitors had the opportunity to meet with First Integrated Solutions divisional personnel and supply chain, and view the company’s new facilities and equipment.
