Mocean Energy wave energy technology could power subsea equipment

Edinburgh-based wave energy company Mocean Energy announced on 23 September that its Seabase technology could power North Sea subsea equipment.

The company, which has recently set up a base in Aberdeen, has already secured £100,000 from Scottish Enterprise for the technical development of Seabase and further £100,000 from the Oil & Gas Technology Centre for its commercial development. It is now seeking oil and gas partners to help bring the technology to market.

Mocean Energy Managing Director Cameron McNatt said: “Aberdeen is a natural next step for us”. He continued: “The oil and gas market has a clear ambition to decarbonise, and Aberdeen is a global hub for offshore engineering expertise. We are now in early discussion with partners who can help bring Seabase to market.”
