Scotland’s First Minister is due to deliver a keynote address tomorrow (Apirl 8) in New York at the annual Bloomberg Energy Investment summit.
This is one of a series of speeches and presentations Alex Salmond is making this week during a trade mission of 17 Scottish companies to the USA as its celebrates Tartan Day and Scotland Week – the official celebration of Scottish-Americans.
His speech is expected to cover a range of domestic and international energy issues, such as security of supply, the scale and value of the North Sea oil and gas resources, and Scotland’s potential in wave and wind renewable energy technologies.
There are currently 580 US owned companies in Scotland, which equates to 28% of the total number of foreign investors. Collectively these organisations employ 98,000 people in Scotland.
Salmond will also hold a number of strategic business meetings with existing and potential new investors in order to further boost foreign employment in Scotland.
