Scottish energy efficiency regulations postponed due to Covid-19

Regulations aimed to improve the energy efficiency of private rented housing in Scotland, which were due to come into force on 1 April, have now been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning Kevin Stewart revealed the decision in a letter on 26 March.

The decision was taken because the regulations, which place new duties and responsibilities on local authorities for registering exemptions, would distract them from their necessary focus on frontline emergency responses to the Covid-19 crisis.
