Scottish Energy Minister to open flagship Power Scotland Conference (Glasgow, 25 March)

Industrial and Power AssociationThe flagship Power Scotland Conference – which is being held by the Industrial and Power Association in Glasgow on 25 March – will be officially opened by Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing.

Hector Grant, Chief Executive, Industrial and Power Association, said:

Energy is currently headlining in the news and across the media, whether it is renewables, unconventional gas, oil, coal or nuclear not a day goes by without reference to the power industry.

Among other keynote speakers will be Graeme Sweeney from the Expert Commission on Energy Regulation. He will talk about the efficient regulation of electricity and gas – and the stewardship of the wider policy regime for energy in Scotland:

Dr Guy Doyle of Mott Macdonald will talk about The Case for Investment in Generation: Scenarios to 2025 (Exploring the Possible Outcomes and Their Impacts):

John Twomey of National Grid will look at electricity and gas connections and update us both from a GB level and then specifically focus on Scotland;

Brian Galloway of Scottish Power will present The changing shape of the power generation market;

Steven Stocks and John Bingham of ETP will talk about their work on Energy Storage – A vital network component in the delivery of a low carbon UK, and:

David Few of Atkins will present an Overview and update on the UK DECC CCS Commercialisation Programme.
