A Scottish oil-well management firm has recently completed its first full well-management project at one of the UK’s first conventional onshore exploration wells of 2015.

Aberdeen-based Zenith Energy, which was established in 2012, has completed well operations on the Europa Oil & Gas operated Kiln Lane well, located in North-east Lincolnshire on exploration licence PEDL 181.

The Kiln Lane well was the first full project management contract for Zenith Energy, which spudded on 23 February 2015 and reached a total depth (‘TD’) of 2,291 metres on 19 March. Europa announced that wireline logging and subsequent petrophysical analysis indicated that the sandstones encountered were water wet. The well has therefore been plugged and abandoned and the site shall be restored to agricultural use.

Chris Collie, Operations Director, Zenith Energy, said: “The completion of the Kiln Lane project marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Zenith as it is our first project managed well which is a huge achievement for the business in just under two and half years since it was first established.

“We successfully completed the project in an efficient, safe and timely manner which is testament to our experienced engineers and our continued focus on quality planning and performance for our clients. This contract puts us in a strong position for future growth and further projects.”

Europa chief executive Hugh Mackay, said: “Kiln Lane was the first well to be drilled on this large licence and I wish to thank the whole Zenith team who delivered excellent performance and brought the well to spud on schedule against a tight timeframe.”

Collie added: “We have enjoyed working with Europa and our service companies on this project and look forward to building on these relationships going forward. As an independent well project management firm, it is great to add this scope of work to our portfolio as we continue to strengthen our track record.”

Zenith Energy, which currently has 18 employees, has over 100 years of professional experience in the industry and has recently been shortlisted for an Aberdeen-area business award.

Over the last two years, Zenith has more than doubled its client list to 20, working with a number of operators in the UK, Ireland, Norway, France, USA and West Africa.
