Following the release of a report by Wood Mackenzie predicting a recovery for North Sea oil and gas in the coming year, the SNP has called on Westminster to stop ignoring the needs of the industry and grant control over it to the Scottish devolved administration.
In a press release on 8 January, Maureen Watt MSP, who co-convenes Holyrood’s cross-party group on oil and gas, said: “The SNP has consistently argued for full powers over the oil and gas sector to come to Holyrood so that Scotland can provide full support to the industry by properly stewarding our natural resources, creating jobs, growing our economy and investing in future generations.”
