AND FINALLY: Torness technician represents EDF Energy in golf at the World Corporate Games

A Torness employee has been busy representing the nuclear power station and EDF Energy in the golf singles and team events at the World Corporate Games in Liverpool. Twenty four-year-old fuel route technician Ross Colquhoun made it into fourth place out of more than 100 other companies.

Tens of thousands of competitors from thousands of organisations take part in the World Corporate Games every year. It started in San Francisco in 1988 and over 170 events have been held all over the world since then. Key benefits are health and fitness in the workplace, confidence and team building.

Ross CoquhounRoss, from Prestonpans is a keen golfer when he isn’t busy with his day job. He has taken part in several competitions organised by EDF Energy and is the companies British Singles Champion and along with his golfing partner George Miller he also won the companies British Pairs Competition.

Having achieved these titles, Ross was selected to represent EDF Energy at the World Corporate Games while competing in another event in France. He was picked by Chris Forsyth, a British Golf Professional.

Ross said. “Taking part in the World Corporate Games has been an incredible experience and having the opportunity to play on the Evian championship course was an honour. I owe a huge debt to Chris Forsyth whose support and coaching was first class.”

Torness power station Director, Paul Winkle said:

“Ross has done fantastically well in his golf and in representing the company. We are all very proud of his achievements. I certainly won’t be challenging him to a game any time soon.”

Ross has now been asked by EDF Energy to take part in next year’s World Corporate Games in Tokyo.
